Following an increase in negative comments by actors and celebrities against filmmaker Woody Allen, actor Alec Baldwin has spoken up on behalf of the actor/director, calling ?the renunciation of him and his work [unfair and sad.? Several actors who have worked with Allen have recently criticized him in the midst of the Time?s Up and #MeToo movements, with scrutiny towards celebrities accused of sexual misconduct getting more intense. In his first tweet of defense, Baldwin wrote: ? Woody Allen was investigated forensically by two states (NY and CT) and no charges were filed. The renunciation of him and his work, no doubt, has some purpose. But it?s unfair and sad to me. I worked w WA 3 times and it was one of the privileges of my career.? Baldwin later followed that tweet up by asking if it?s ?possible to support survivors of pedophilia and sexual assault/abuse? while also believing that Allen is innocent. Allen?s innocence has been the subject of heated debate over the years, given the alleged molestation of daughter Dylan Farrow in 1992.
