The festivities were over for a host of celebrities as the stars descended into California for the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala.
The celebration kicks off this year?s awards season which has got off to a flying start for some A-listers.
Just some of those who have started their year with a bang include Reese Witherspoon who walked away with the Chairman?s Award for her performance in Wild.
Meanwhile the Ensemble Cast Award went to The Imitation Game which Benedict Cumberbatch accepted alongside his fellow actor Allen Leech.
Rosamund Pike got the gong for the Breakthrough Performance Actress for her role in Gone Girl while David Oyelowo won the Breakthrough Performance Actor Award for his film Selma.
And it was a great night for Eddie Redmayne who was presented with the Desert Palm Achievement Award alongside Julianne Moore.
The Creative Impact in Acting Award went to Steve Carell for his role in Foxcatcher and Robert Duvall won The Icon Award for his performance in the Judge.
