The Dalai Lama recently made a controversial joke regarding women during an interview with the BBC. He said the future Dalai Lama could be a woman but would have to be good looking or ?not much use.? According to CNN, the Dalai Lama released a statement apologizing for hurting people with his joke. It also said he emphasizes people connect ?with each other on a deeper human level? and not worry about ?superficial appearances.? His office said remarks which might be proper to use in one context ?lose humor in translation? in other contexts.
