According to a report by Uproxx, long-reigning Jeopardy champion James Holzhaueur was finally dethroned after winning over 2.4 million dollars in 32 games. Holzhauer, who reportedly averaged $75,364 dollars over 33 games, eventually lost to Emma Boettcher, who wrote her thesis on whether a computer could predict the difficulty of a question on Jeopardy! Uproxx reports that after the episode aired in most markets, Holzhauer congratulated Boettcher on the win and hinted that the new champion might be embarking on an impressive run of her own.
