Comicbook.com reports 'Avengers: Endgame' restored the dusted from Infinity War, including Dr. Strange.

But the mystic hero wasn't the star of the final fight, rather a mentor for Tony Stark.

But why did he step to the side in Endgame when he did? One fan theory may explain it.

It simply may have been what was needed to ensure the defeat of Thanos.

Strange saw over 14 million futures, and said they only won in one of them... one where he had a small role.

It also may have just been too easy to write a story where Dr. Strange wins the fight.
