According to a report by Comicbook.com, on Friday, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu stole a little bit of Avengers: Endgame's thunder, taking in 20.7 million dollars in its first day at the box office. It was reportedly the first day since Endgame began its theatrical run that the film hasn't been the highest-grossing film in theaters. Despite the minor setback, the latest MCU blockbuster is still expected to top the overall weekend box office with an approximate 61.7 million dollars in its third weekend, but guarantees that Detective Pikachu will open in second place. Endgame has broken a number of box-office records in its three weeks in theaters, including becoming the first film to have a 1 billion-dollar opening weekend at the global box-office.
