"Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé," premiered early Wednesday on Netflix.
And like the true boss she is, Beyoncé also dropped "Homecoming: The Live Album" on her husband's streaming service, Tidal, at the same time.
CNN reports that the film was written, directed and produced by Queen Bey herself and shot over eight months.
"Homecoming" gives insight into the superstar's historical Coachella performance. CNN describes Beyonce as a perfectionist that was involved in all aspects of the performance, including the beading of the costumes.
Beyonce became the first black woman to headline Coachella in 2018. And she did so with an impactful Greek sorority theme that celebrates HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) traditions.
CNN explains that the film is "Filled with quotes from famed black intellectuals, as well as snippets of an audio diary in which the superstar shares how and why her Coachella performance came to be."
They add, "'Homecoming' "lets it be known how intentionally and lovingly black it all was.'"
Advance screenings were organized for HBCU students. CNN says that "there was also a plethora of emotion and gratitude that such a superstar would use her celebrity to share the beauty, pain and joy that is the black experience."
Beyonce explained, "At this point in my life and my career i have a responsibility to do whats best for the world and not what is most popular."
