Shawn Mendes is once again shutting down speculation that he identifies as gay. According to Huff Post, the pop star told The Guardian in an interview published Sunday that the rumors are ?hurtful." He said, ?I get mad when people assume things about me because I imagine the people who don?t have the support system I have and how that must affect them." Mendes has shut down the same rumors before. In 2016 in a Snapchat story he said, ?First of all, I?m not gay. Second of all, it shouldn?t make a difference if I was or wasn?t.? He told The Rolling Stone last year that he often wants to ask his fans, "Do you like the songs? Do you like me? Who cares if I?m gay??
He admitted, "Even though in my heart I know that it?s not a bad thing. There?s still a piece of me that thinks that. And I hate that side of me.?
