Sorry to Bother You didn't receive any Oscar nominations, and star Armie Hammer says he isn't surprised.
Comicbook.com reports Hammer talked to IndieWire at the Sundance film festival about the film getting snubbed.
Hammer said the Academy often fails to acknowledge first-time directors such as Boots Riley.
"If you really look at the kind of films and people that the Oscars really celebrate, I'm embarrassed to say that I wasn't terribly surprised..."
"I think that Boots, as a first-time director, came out of the gates swinging so hard -- swinging for the fences and knocking it over the fence."
Hammer added that they "didn't make that movie thinking we were gonna win Academy Awards."
Sorry to Bother You is available on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital.
