Fans have been confused as to how Chris Pine will return in **Wonder Woman 1984**.
Comicbook.com reports director Patty Jenkins is now assuring that Pine's return as Steve Trevor will make sense.
Steve Trevor was killed at the conclusion of the first **Wonder Woman film**.
The sequel takes place a few decades later.
