Variety announces that Amazon is creating a free ad-supported VOD service called Freedive via its digital property IMDb. The service, available in the US, is set to stream movies and tv shows accompanied by ads on Fire TV devices. The service will also be available via the IMDb website and an app that is in development. Business Insider reports Amazon will most likely license a great deal of the content from traditional studios and networks. As of now, the site lists approximately 130 movies and 29 TV shows, from sources such as CBS, NBCUniversal Television, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television, A&E Networks, and Annapurna Pictures.
