Universal's "Green Book" has emerged as an Oscar frontrunner after several nominations for other awards shows as well as taking home a few Golden Globes last week. Business Insider reports the movie is not battling controversy after offensive behavior from both screenwriter Nick Vallelonga and director Peter Farrelly resurfaced. In 2015, Vallelonga replied to a tweet from Donald Trump that "thousands of people" were cheering in New Jersey after the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001. Vallelonga wrote, "100% correct. Muslims in Jersey City cheering when towers went down. I saw it, as you did, possibly on local CBS news." The claim was debunked by multiple outlets including The Washington Post. Farrelly came under fire after The Cut found reports from 1998 that Farrelly flashed his genitals in front of colleagues. Farrelly deleted his Twitter account and quickly apologized for his past behavior. He told The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday, "I did this decades ago and I thought I was being funny and the truth is I'm embarrassed and it makes me cringe now. I'm deeply sorry."
