A prequel movie is in the works for HBO's most popular series of all time, "The Sopranos." The series ended more than 10 years ago after six seasons. Digital Trends reports the project?s working title is "The Many Saints of Newark." The script will be written by ' Sopranos' creator David Chase and one of the show?s former writers, Lawrence Konner. The movie will take place in Newark, New Jersey, during the 1960s, and will follow Tony Soprano, the mob patriarch who was played by James Gandolfini in the original series. Chase said in a recent interview, ?The thing that interested me most was Tony?s boyhood. I was interested in exploring that." "The Many Saints of Newark" will follow Tony getting involved in the race riots in Newark in July 1967, which killed 26 people and injured hundreds of others.
