According to Uproxx.com, "45 million Netflix users... have watched 'Bird Box,' the Sandra Bullock-starring post-apocalyptic thriller about a world where looking outside equals death." Recently, producers of the film revealed it would have had a much darker ending if it had followed the ending of the book. In the book, Malorie and the kids find shelter in Josh Malerman?s novel, but the community is filled with people who intentionally gouged their eyes out. The creators of film wanted audiences to leave with a more hopeful outlook, so they changed it to a school of the blind.
