Despite 'Aquaman's' box office success it appears that the film has yet to gain much critical acclaim.
The films' director James Wan recently voiced his displeasure that the films visual component wasn't acknowledge by the Academy.
Wan took to social media responding to visual effects supervisor Kelvin McIlwain writing,
"The fact that your VFX peers in the Academy aren't recognizing or appreciating what we/you've all contributed to the film and cinema is a disgrace."
