While speaking with "Extra," Regina opened up about her role as a strong, loving mother who goes the extra mile to help her daughter and her daughter's wrongly imprisoned boyfriend. King said her character was "an amalgamation of so many different women I know, primarily my grandma.? She also said she "feels so lucky to play this woman that so many of us know and we don't get a chance to see."
