Netflix just dropped its first Black Mirror: Bandersnatch trailer and it?s an eerie perspective on retro gaming.
On Thursday, Netflix posted the Black Mirror: Bandersnatch trailer on its YouTube channel. According to the trailer synopsis, the feature-length special, which takes place in 1984, involves a ? young programmer who begins to question reality as he adopts a sprawling fantasy novel into a video game and soon faces a mind-mangling challenge.? The movie, which stars Asim Chaudhry, Alice Lowe, and Will Poulter, will premiere on Netflix on Dec. 28.
?I keep having these vivid dreams, like thinking weird things,? a young man says at the beginning of the trailer. This same character then takes a cluster of colorful pills, yet we don?t know if they?re his medications or drugs provided by someone else.
This guy also happens to be a programmer working on Bandersnatch, an adventure game based on a fictional book by author Jerome F. Davies. Viewers are soon taken on a creepy mind trip, where he starts seeing sinister images and questioning his place in the world.
His quest to find Bandersnatch?s origins becomes a deadly task with paranoia, visions, and some evil behind-the-scenes schemes. Will this young man have his questions answered or will he become part of the mysterious gaming universe he co-created?
