"Aquaman" was the clear frontrunner of the pre-Christmas box office weekend, taking the No. 1 spot with an estimated $67.4 million opening from 4,125 screens. When Wednesday and Amazon preview screenings are included, the film's domestic launch is estimated to reach $72.1 million. The DCEU film also took in $410 million overseas through the weekend and is expected to pass $500 million globally after Christmas Day. The superhero film is competing with Disney's ?Mary Poppins Returns? this holiday season. The sequel, released on Wednesday, grossed $22.2 million for a five-day launch of $31 million.
