According to Huffington Post, most movie audiences around the world associate the Swahili phrase ?hakuna matata? with Disney?s 1994 animated classic ?The Lion King,." Now, one activist is trying to change that. Shelton Mpala, who is of Zimbabwean heritage and based in Toronto, has launched an online petition that is demanding that the The Walt Disney Company give up its trademark for ?hakuna matata." The petition refers to Disney's trademark on the phrase, ?an assault on the Swahili people and Africa as a whole.? More than 110,000 people had signed the petition as of Thursday afternoon.
