VIDEO : Netflix Says It Will Make 90 Original Movies Per Year

Netflix has no plans to slow down the creation of its original content. Comicbook.com reports Netflix movie chief Scott Stuber told the New York Times that the company's original film operation plans to release 55 original films a year, with that total coming to 90 when including original documentaries and animated movies. The report says that some of those film's budgets are as high as $200 million. The recent Kurt Russell-led original film "The Christmas Chronicles" was reportedly viewed 20 million times in its first week on the streaming service. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said, "Even in [Russell's] successful career, he's never had that many people see one of his movies in the first week ever. That's a testimony to what we can bring to the market for storytellers today that we couldn't have ten years ago."
