TMZ reports Mel required immediate surgery for a severe cut on her hand and broken ribs.
?According to her friend Gary Madatyan, she was asleep upstairs, woke up, and lost her footing while going down a staircase.
According to Extra, Mel B?s lawyer said that drugs and alcohol did not play a part in her fall.
