According to Channel24, Kevin Hart's decision to step down as the 2019 Oscars host may make finding another host difficult.
The Oscars not only has a longstanding host problem but is also combatting a ratings decline.
They explain, " Kevin Hart's swift downfall over old anti-gay tweets has led to bigger questions about the gig and the liability of social media histories."
Matthew Belloni, the editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter believes that The Academy should be embarrassed.
He adds, "It shows that they either didn't vet this host properly, or they did vet him and didn't think this would be an issue. And both are a little troubling."
GLAAD, a gay advocacy group, wishes that Hart kept the job. GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis says that Hart's apology to the LGBTQ community was a huge step.
She says, "But he missed a real opportunity to use his platform and the Oscars stage to build unity and awareness."
