In his apology he apologized to the LGBTQ community and says that he stepped down "as not to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists."
In a 2010 stand-up special, Hart joked "If I can prevent my son from being gay, I will."
In a recent Instagram video Hart said that he wouldn't "let the craziness frustrate me," and that he "loves everybody."
According to Channel24, GLAAD, a gay media watchdog group, reached out to the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and Hart's management to "discuss Kevin's anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and record."
