While ?Crazy Rich Asians? did every well in the U.S., movie audiences in China did not care much for the film. While its all-Asian cast made got people talking in the U.S., China is use to seeing all-Asian casts. According to SFGate, during its opening weekend the film only grossed $1.2 million. People thought the film?s focus on extravagant wealth would be a barrier for it to premiere in China. Yet China?s film board approved the film, along with ?Aquaman? and ?Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.?
