According to a report by CNN, on Tuesday, Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of the popular Nickelodeon show 'SpongeBob Squarepants,' has died at the age of 57. Nickelodeon wrote in a tweet, "We are sad to share the news of the passing of Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of SpongeBob SquarePants. Today, we are observing a moment of silence to honor his life and work." Last year, Hillenburg reportedly revealed that he had been diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disease ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease.
