Oprah Winfrey's mother, Vernita Lee, has passed away at the age of 83.
On Monday, a Winfrey spokeswoman issued a statement saying Lee died at her Milwaukee home on November 22.
According to Channel 24, the spokeswoman says private funeral services were held, while no other details were provided.
Lee gave birth to Winfrey as a teenager in Mississippi in 1954, and they moved to Milwaukee when Winfrey was 6 years old.
Lee was once featured getting a makeover on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1990.
