According to a report by Comicbook.com, a recent poll conducted by THR and Morning Condult about franchises that moviegoers would like to see more of revealed that a large number of those surveyed wanted to see a new installment of the Back to the Future franchise. However, talk of this survey has caused backlash amongst fans online regarding any notion of a reboot, remake, or a direct sequel. Lucky for those fans, the film trilogy's director, Robert Zemeckis, has repeatedly shot down the idea of any kind of continuation of the franchise. Zemeckis even reportedly said in an interview that it would take his death for the franchise to go on.
