Throughout Andrew Lincoln's last episode, fans were shown several touching scenes that included deceased characters.

Fans were confused as to why Rick's late wife Lori Grimes or late son Carl were nowhere to be found.

Showrunner Angela Kang said that she worried that if Grimes saw his family, he'd immediately give up his fight.
