'The Simpsons' have been openly criticized about the stereotype driven traits of their character Apu. Filmmaker and comedian Hari Condabolu recently released a documentary called, "The Problem with Apu" that broke down why Apu is a problem that needs to be solved. According to Comicbook.com, "earlier this week it was reported that the long-running Fox animated series will quietly cut Apu from the series and fans are very conflicted about the prospect." Producer Adi Shankar was especially disheartened, he told the press, "I got some disheartening news back, that I've verified from multiple sources now: They're going to drop the Apu character altogether. They aren't going to make a big deal out of it or anything like that, but they'll drop him altogether just to avoid the controversy."
