According to The Wrap, "The Simpsons" is getting rid of Apu.
The move is being made in response to Racial controversy over the character.
Creator Matt Groening had previously stated producers would neither recast nor retire the character.
But it looks like things have changed in seeking a solution to the show's "Apu problem."
Apu's future has been in question since 2017's ?The Problem With Apu? documentary. Hari Kondabolu's film studied the negative stereotypes perpetuated by the popular animated character.
Voiced by Hank Azaria, the fictional Apu Nahasapeemapetilon has a thick accent and runs a convenience store.
