Disney is reportedly moving on from Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. This news comes a year after the lowest-grossing film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise was released. Comicbook.com reports series screenwriter Stuart Beattie supported the idea that Disney would not pursue another film with Depp in the lead. Beattie tells The Daily Mail, "I think he's had a great run. Obviously, he's made that character his own and it's become the character he's most famous for now. So I think it's been great for him, it's been great for us."
