According to SF Gate, Ansel Elgort has been chosen to play Tony in Steven Spielberg?s remake of the classic ?West Side Story?. The original 1957 Broadway show was written by Arthur Laurents and Stephen Sondheim with music by Leonard Bernstein. Tony Kushner penned the movie adaptation of the musical in 1961 with Richard Beymer playing the role of Tony. ?West Side Story? follows the story of rival New York City street gangs, as well as forbidden love. Spielberg will produce the upcoming film, along with Kevin McCollum and Kristie Macosko Krieger.
