VIDEO : Sesame Street Writer Says That Bert and Ernie Are Gay

Celebrity in this news:

Former "Sesame Street" writer, Mark Saltzman, worked for the preschool TV program for 15 years.
He recently gave more insight into the popular characters Bert and Ernie's relationship. In an interview with Queerty he explained, "I always felt that without a huge agenda, when I was writing Bert and Ernie, they were [gay]."
CNN reports that he started writing for the show in 1984 and based their sketches on his own relationship with his now-late partner, Arnie.
Mark adds, "I don't think I'd know how else to write them, but as a loving couple ... Arnie's OCD would create friction with how chaotic I was. And that's the Bert and Ernie dynamic."
Sesame Workshop issued a statement related to the claims on Twitter writing, ""Sesame Street has always stood for inclusion and acceptance... Bert and Ernie were created to be best friends and to teach young children that people can get along with those who are every different than themselves."
