VIDEO : Dress For Success: How Ballerinas Massacre Their Pointe Shoes For Work

Celebrity in this news:

Business Insider sat down to talk with Olivia Boisson, a New York City Ballet corps de ballet member.
She talked about how ballerinas customized their pointe shoes.
They cost around $80-$90 a pair, and ballerinas can go through three pairs a day!
Each dancer sews her pointe shoes differently, to support the ankle. They also "smush" the box!
They also bend the part of the shoe that supports the arch, to mold it to her foot.
To treat the feet, dancers use little gel squares called "Second Skin," elastic, and paper towels.
They then rosin the soles--and may even extend the life of the sole with hot glue!
