On Sunday night, Lena Waithe gave a shout out to gay black women at the Black Girls Rock award show.
Huff Post reports, the actress, producer, and screenwriter accepted the Shot Caller award. During her acceptance speech, Waithe discussed her recent decision to cut off all her hair, telling the crowd that she?d kept it as a way to make people feel more comfortable with her gayness.
Waithe then encouraged people to ?get free? of restrictive stereotypes that have held black women back for so long.
