VIDEO : Hollywood Luminaries Fought Oscars 'Popular Film' Category

Steven Spielberg and actress Laura Dern both sit on the Academy Awards' Board of Governors.
Comicbook.com reports they were among those in opposition of the new "Popular Film" category.
The NY Times learned that the Academy would postpone the controversial category.
It will not include the ?popular? Oscar in its upcoming 91st ceremony this February as planned.
The Times says the 54-member Academy board voted to ?rethink? the creation of the category.
Dern ?adamantly opposed? the category and Spielberg was not comfortable with the category.
