According to Extra, when Demi Lovato had suffered a drug overdose in July, many of her famous friends publicly spoke out in support of the star. Lovato's childhood friend Selena Gomez has remained publicly silent on the issue, however, she was reaching out to Lovato behind the scenes. Gomez is on the October cover of Elle and is speaking publicly for the first time about Demi. Selena says, "I didn?t do a public thing. I didn?t want to. I love her. I?ve known her since I was seven."
