Jim Carrey took a break from his Trump-thumping artistic endeavors on Thursday to accentuate the positive ? and to pay tribute to singing legend Aretha Franklin, who died earlier in the day at age 76.
Carrey unveiled his tribute to Franklin via Twitter, revealing his portrait of the ?Respect? singer.
?Look how beautiful a life can be,? Carrey wrote in a caption accompanying the portrait. ?Thank you, Aretha!?
Franklin, dubbed the Queen of Soul, died Thursday in Detroit, after long battles with diabetes and other physical ailments. The singer announced last year that she planned to give up touring, telling WDIV Local 4 in Detroit, ?I am retiring this year ? I will be recording, but this will be my last year in concert. This is it.?
Carrey was far from the only person to pay tribute to Franklin following news of her death Thursday. Social media was flooded with appreciations from fans including Barack Obama, Donald Trump and Bill Cosby, among many others.
