VIDEO : 'Eighth Grade' Gets Free Screenings To Fight R-Rating

Celebrity in this news:

The coming-of-age indie movie "Eighth Grade" can't be watched by eighth graders unless they bring their parents. The Motion Picture Association of America gave the film an R rating. CNN reports that at least one theater in each state will show the film for free on Wednesday in order to fight its rating. The film's site explains, "This Wednesday night. No ratings enforced. If you've been through eighth grade, 'Eighth Grade' is for you. This is not just adult content. This is Eighth Grade." The film earned critical acclaim and the year's highest per-screen gross. Its rating is said to be due to explicit language and a scene in which the main character watches YouTube videos to learn about oral sex.
