Make no mistake about it, making a living as a professional musician is not for the faint of heart.
According to Business Insider, a Citigroup report states that recording artists only received 12% of the 43 billion that the music industry generated in 2017.
While consumer spending on music generated an all-time high of more than $20 billion last year, labels and publishers, took almost $10 billion, while artists received just $5.1 billion, most of which came from touring.
