The large growth of MoviePass's subscriber base may be the reason why the company's future is up in the air.
Business Insider reports that the monthly movie subscription service climbed to a staggering 3 million in June.
A year ago, Movie Pass only had a customer base of 20,000.
More subscribers equal higher costs for the company on top of an already shaky and "unsustainable business model."
Reports also say that "The user count is perhaps also partly to blame for the service's temporary shutdown just last week when its parent company ran out of money."
In early July MoviePass increased their prices from about $10 per month to $15 monthly. They also said that subscribers could no longer use their passes to see blockbuster films like "Mission: Impossible ? Fallout."
