According to a report by Comicbook.com, former artist writer and artist, Jim Starlin, whose creations include Drax, Gamora, and the villain Thanos, has joined a group of celebrities defending director James Gunn following his firing by Disney last week. Gunn was fired after years-old tweets by The Guardians of the Galaxy director resurfaced, which included jokes about pedophilia , rape, AIDS, and the Holocaust. Starlin defended Gunn in a Facebook post, claiming the director's comments were "clearly meant to be foolishly provocative rather than taken as advocacy." He went on to suggest that the "whole uproar" was a politically motivated attack in response to the recent firing of Roseanne Barr.
