Gloria Estefan was honored by Spain on Monday for her contribution to the arts.
Reuters reports the singer was presented with Spain's Gold Medal of Merit for the Arts.
Spain's Culture Minister Jose Guirao Cabrera gave Estefan the award in Madrid.
She was accompanied by her music-producer husband Emilio Estefan.
Estefan announced she had finished recording an album to be released in January:
