Jamie Foxx has revealed he spent six years campaigning in order to land the role of Spawn. The Spawn comic became an instant cult success in the early 1990s thanks to the dark, rich artwork by Todd McFarlane. A Spawn film was made in 1997, but according to Screenrant, it lacked a good screenplay and director. For the last decade or so McFarlane has intended to make a gritty, low-budget Spawn reboot. In a new interview, Foxx revealed that he pursued the project for years.
