Jason Clarke will star opposite Helen Mirren in HBO?s upcoming limited series ?Catherine the Great.? The historical drama is set against the tumultuous court of Russian empress Catherine the Great. Catherine wielded supreme power throughout Russia for nearly half of the 18th century. Clarke will play Grigory Potemkin, a military commander opposite Mirren, who will play Catherine. Sfgate reports the miniseries is the third project from HBO and Sky?s new co-production deal.
