According to Digital Trends, 'District 9' director Neill Blomkamp will helm a sequel to the original 'Robocop' movie from 1987. Since its first film, the 'Robocop' franchise has spawned multiple sequels, spinoffs, a 2014 remake, and a pair of animated series. In a statement Blomkamp said of Robocop, "The original definitely had a massive effect on me as a kid. I loved it then and it remains a classic in the end of 20th century sci-fi catalog, with real meaning under the surface.
