'Sex and the City' TV series turns 20 on June 6.
In celebration, The Wrap rounded up 12 details about the popular HBO series that many may not know. Factoids include:
1. Candace Bushnell, the real-life author behind the ?Sex and the City? column that inspired Carrie's character wrote for the New York Observer. She created the pseudonym 'Carrie Bradshaw' in an effort to shield her parents from the fact that she was writing about her sex life.
2. Sarah Jessica Parker did not initially jump at the chance to star in the series. She was planning her wedding to Matthew Broderick and starring in plays at the time. She was afraid SATC would cause a 'conflict.'
3. The ?SATC? storylines were based on real life experiences that the series writers encountered.
Many of the female writers on the team lived in Manhattan and shared tales from each other?s love lives.
