Interesting changes for Miss America.
Tuesday, the Miss America organization announced changes for itself.
For starters, it will no longer be considered a pageant.
Instead, it will be considered a competition.
Also, the organization is eliminating the swimsuit competition ? along with the evening gown competition.
Instead, contestants will be encouraged to wear an outfit of their choice ?
? showcasing their personal style that gives them confidence.
In an interview Tuesday, Gretchen Carlson told GMA
We?ve heard from a lot of young women who say, ?We?d love to be a part of your program but we don?t want to be out there in high heels and a swimsuit,? so guess what, you don?t have to do that anymore,
For the first time in the organization?s history, the leadership team is comprised completely of women.
Carlson herself is the first former pageant winner to lead the organization.
