VIDEO : What Is 'Fridging'?

Celebrity in this news:

Deadpool 2 is one of the biggest hits of the year.
But, not everyone is happy.
A very small but very vocal group of Twitter activists are calling the film out for sexism.
They claim that the filmmakers are guilty of "fridging."
"Fridging" was coined by comic book writer Gail Simone in 1999.
It's term used to describe the murder of a woman as a plot device in a movie or a show.
The writers and director of Deadpool defended the decision to kill of Deadpool's girlfriend, Vanessa.
In a reasoned and measure explanation, director David Leitch said Vanessa doesn't leave the film.
---She is a huge point of contact for him and learning his lesson in the world and learning that one of act of kindness can change history. And I think without her being the vehicle that he learns that from, I don't know, it wouldn't have been the same film ...
---And so we wouldn't have had that emotional context. Even the scene at the end where they visit each other in the afterlife, hugely emotional, great performances by both of them. So, again, I don't think she left the movie.---
However, activists and social justice warriors on Twitter are demanding the "fridging" trope end.
