According to a report by Comicbook.com, writer and director Kevin Smith says that he wants to make Clerks 3, but his script can't be made into a film because one of the original two films' stars doesn't want to return. While appearing on a Fat Man on Batman Q&A, Smith said, "There was going to be, I wrote it and I wanted to do it, but one of the cast didn?t want to do it and without that person we can?t make it, so no. So I might publish it as a comic book script instead.? In February of 2017, Smith said that Jeff Anderson, who played Randal Graves in Clerks and Clerks 2, doesn't want to make a 3rd movie. Smith went on to say, ?I want it so badly but I can?t do it without him, it was written for him."
